Kaito, a puzzle-loving high school freshman, is selected as a candidate for “Phi Brain”. He and his friend Nonah find an “unsolvable puzzle” near their school. The puzzle turns out to be a life-threatening “philosopher’s puzzle” created by the mysterious group POG. After successfully solving the puzzle, Kaito is designated as a Solver and is joined by other Solvers as they battle POG all over the world by solving the “philosopher’s puzzles”.

Mint Clark arrives at Howard Resort with her multimillionaire grandfather. Tired of amusement parks and beaches, Mint spots the beautiful dealer Rio, also known as the “Goddess of Victory.” While Mint is captivated by her smile, a man named Orlin Dunhill appears before them and attempts to steal Mint’s precious stuffed bear. Description: Miyanaga Saki is a first year high school girl whose family would get angry if she won the family mahjong games. But losing would also have its consequences. A ghostly apparation appears out of the board and tells Hikaru his sad story. His name is Sai Fujiwara, a man who was a Go instructor to the emperor of Japan a thousand years ago. However, because of bad sportsmanship of his opponent during a game, Sai was accused of cheating and banished from the city. With no livelihood or any other reason to live, Sai commited suicide by drowning himself. Now, he haunts a Go board, and wants to accomplish the perfect Go game, called the “Hand of God” which he hopes to do through Hikaru. If Hikaru will be able to do it or not (or even wants to) will have to be seen.

Plot Summary:As a child, Shion Ishiwatari’s parents were murdered in their own home. Shion escaped unharmed, yet the trauma caused her to lose her voice. The only evidence police found was a shougi board and one piece “the King”. Neighbours and close friends of the family, Shinji and Sachiko Yasuoka, adopted Shion and taught Shion how to play shougi.
